Red Demon Spec Short Block Technical Specs
On the technical side, what makes the Red Demon Spec Short Block so unique is the craftsmanship and attention to detail. For example, by adjusting the rod ratio, we’ve been able to mitigate side loading on the cylinder walls to more effectively transfer power from the connecting rod to the crankshaft thanks to the improved geometry. The Red Demon Spec Short Block is equipped with high-compression gas-ported pistons for superior cylinder sealing, secured to the aluminum rods by custom 1500 WHP wrist pins. Those rods aren’t just any off-the-shelf rods either; they are CNC machined out of cold-extruded proprietary aluminum alloy for the strongest and lightest rod possible. These rods are secured to either the stock crank (6-bolt DSM) or a Manley Billet Crank (7-bolt) via L19 rod bolts. For those 6-bolt applications, we employ a Kiggly main girdle to reinforce the bottom end and reduce torsional stresses on the crankshaft. And, on the topic of reinforcement, this short block comes fully filled to reinforce the cylinder walls. And, depending on your needs, the Red Demon Spec Short Block is available with compression ratios between 9.0:1 to 10.5:1.
